Should Chelsea Sign Nigerian Striker Victor Osimhen In The Summer Transfer Window?

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has been the subject of transfer interest among some of the elite clubs in Europe.

Clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur were linked to his services in the past while the player is on break amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea is said to be interested in signing Osimhen while Barcelona, Real Madrid (the EL Classico brothers) and Manchester United are also adjured to be part of the chase for the striker’s signature.

With Tammy Abraham, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud in the Chelsea ranks do they still need a striker as in the case of Lille forward Victor Osimhen?

This may be a tough question for Chelsea and his suitors as the forward have got impressive statistics following his first season in Ligue l (French).

He joined Lille OSC last summer (on August 2019) from Belgian side Sporting Charleroi but his stock has risen to an impressive level. This is with the fact that he’s scored 18 goals in 31 games across all competition for his French side Lille.

He’s an incredible goal scorer as you can see that’s why the big clubs in Europe are coming around for his services.

However, we acknowledge the fact that Lampard prefers Tammy Abraham as his first choice striker while the English striker gets more playing time in order to be available for international matches for the Three Lions of England.

Lampard would continue with Tammy as his first choice if even Chelsea sign Osimhen in the summer.

It will be an ill-fated scenario for the clinical forward to seat on the bench like Batshuayi and French forward Olivier Giroud at Chelsea.

This will be a bad decision for the young Nigerian striker knowing full well that the Chelsea boss would prefer Tammy to lead the lines as Lampard may have got the English sentiments in reference to his overall choice for Abraham.

This would give Tammy an edge over Osimhen even when the Nigerian striker is a better finisher than Tammy Abraham from the look of things as the season has proven already.

It would be a failed approach going to Chelsea for Osimhen rather a move to Manchester United or Barcelona would be ideal.

His services would be more and greatly valued at these clubs than moving to the Frank Lampard’s Chelsea for any percipience reason.
