AC Milan have entered the fray to sign Chelsea’s veteran forward Olivier Giroud on a free transfer with the World Cup-winning Frenchman unlikely to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer.
Giroud’s deal with Chelsea comes to an end later this month and amid no signs of the 34-year-old putting pen to paper on extended terms, AC Milan seem the favourites to land his signature ahead of the next season, according to reports from Goal.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has his options in mind with the summer transfer window underway as he targets a swoop for Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku to bolster his attacking line while West Ham United’s Declan Rice is believed to be a target as well for the west Londoners.

Giroud’s time on the pitch this past season was quite limited with Timo Werner occupying the starting role on the Chelsea teamsheet despite enduring a misfiring first season in the Blues shirt.
Should Lukaku arrive in a big-money deal this summer and re-sign for the Blues, Giroud has little chance to fight for his spot at the club and will be keen on taking the exit door in order to further his minutes on the pitch.
