Chelsea FC are reported to be in the final stages of sealing a move for want away Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon. The Blues had stepped up their pursuit for the Spaniard after failing to secure Ben Chilwell’s signing ahead of next season.
It was Everton who were initially considered the frontrunners in the race to sign the 23-year old Reguilon this summer. The Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti was believed to have even tabled an opening £18 million offer for the Los Blancos defender.
However, after failing their numerous attempts to land Leicester City star Ben Chilwell, Frank Lampard set his sights on signing Reguilon instead. The latter will cost the Blues much less than the 23-year old Chilwell. The Foxes were persistent in seeking an offer in the excess of £80million to let the English international depart the King Power Stadium this summer.
Moreover, recent reports from Spain have claimed that Reguilon is keen on securing a move to Stamford Bridge. The 23-year old left-back is not open to the idea of playing second fiddle to Ferland Mendy at Real Madrid in the coming seasons. The first-team spot in Frank Lampard’s squad at Chelsea FC is a major incentive for Reguilon to move to England this summer.
