“I don’t want to do another Napoli, I want to do a Chelsea.” Sarri told a post-match news conference. The 59-year-old Italian coach who was successful in impressing Chelsea with his tactics of the game, replace Antonio Conte for 2018-2019 season. Chelsea may have outplayed Huddersfield in their opening match of this season, but the coach feels his team still has a lot to work upon. Chelsea’s goals were more a result of the errors done by the Terriers in the defence but also because of the skills Chelsea players posses.
According to Sarri the main glitch was that the team was not able to move the ball faster and were also need to improve to press the ball against three defenders. Though Chelsea created more space and time in the second half, the first half was hard.
Does Maurizio Sarri have time to improve the players?
Sarri does have a month time to improve his players. After that he also knows that the team will be playing frequently which was clearly expressed by him saying “We are lucky now because for three or four weeks we can work with only one match a week. We have to improve in this month, then it might be difficult with the three matches in a week with the suspension of the national teams. I hope in this month to improve the team.”
Sarri will have to study his players if he doesn’t want to do another Napoli as he’ll also have to understand that the English referees are different than Italians, in term of fouls being given. Sarri will have to adapt himself to the characteristic of the championship and strive with his players to attain glory.
