Sanction-hit Chelsea remain confident of landing long-term target Jules Kounde this summer with the Sevilla defender key to Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the transfer window.
The 23-year-old is still Chelsea’s priority target for the summer with the west London giants set to lose their defensive mainstay Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer to Real Madrid.
Rudiger’s departure would leave a major void in the backline for Chelsea which the boss Tuchel is keen to fill by signing his longstanding target Kounde for whom a move nearly materialised last summer.
The France international was close to joining the Blues with a cut-price deal in the offing for Thomas Tuchel’s side only for Sevilla to up their asking price at the last minute which put off the west Londoners who are set to revive their interest in the centre-back, according to 90min.
It is understood that Kounde’s desire to make the move still remains upbeat with Chelsea’s potential takeover competition likely to result in the Frenchman becoming one of the first new signings under the incoming owners.
