Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be forced to take a pay cut to join AC Milan this summer as the Blues look to offload him as part of their major squad clearout.
Loftus-Cheek has a host of suitors across Europe, including the Champions League semi finalists AC Milan, chasing his signature with the one time England international keen to make the move elsewhere in search of regular game time.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, however, the Chelsea first-team outcast’s sizable £150,000-a-week wages are a stumbling block for clubs interested in his services which could force the midfielder to accept a pay cut.
Milan hope to convince Loftus-Cheek to join them this summer as fellow Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori had made the move to San Siro back in 2021 after failing to cement his berth on the team sheet at the Bridge.
Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher are the other midfielders in Chelsea’s current roster who could be seen heading out the exit door when the transfer window reopens for business later this year.
