English midfielder Ross Barkley is likely to be offloaded by Chelsea FC ahead of the 2020-21 season. The player has not been able to impress boss Frank Lampard to warrant a spot in the Blues’ starting XI, according to reports.
Lampard is believed to be on the lookout for clubs wanting to secure Barkley’s signing this summer. The 26-year old, despite being a regular presence for the Blues mid-season, did not feature much towards the end of the league campaign.
With three years still remaining on Barkley’s existing Chelsea FC contract, the West London-based outfit are open to listening to offers for the former Everton man. Funds raised from the midfielder’s potential sale could be used to sign Lampard’s other transfer targets this summer.
Reports suggest that the 26-year old had been offered to West Ham United in a swap deal for Declan Rice. The latter is a long-term target for Chelsea FC with Lampard wanting to play him at centre-back next season. However, the Hammers outrightly declined the proposed offer, with David Moyes keen on keeping Rice at the club beyond this season.
Everton are rumoured to be in the fray to make a move for their ex-player this summer. Barkley will be open to returning to the Goodison Park where he played for eight years after coming through the youth ranks.
