England coach, Gareth Southgate has recalled Chelsea’s fullback, Reece James again into the senior team after he made his debut in the previous month recently.
Gareth has given his opinion to start the Blues defender for the national team despite being suspended for the next two fixtures of Nations League for the Three Lions’ two Nations League fixtures.
The 20 years old fullback was sent off after the whistle was blown in the match against Denmark as he went to argue with the referee. The referee was quick to red card him which made him unavailable in the next crucial game against Belgium and Iceland. But the coach is looking to deploy the Chelsea defender against Ireland, a friendly clash that James is allowed to play in.
His involvement in the recent England team has left Brighton youngster Tariq Lamptey without his debut call and he will alternatively play for the Under-21 England team. England coach expressed his interest in Lamptey but say that Reece is performing at its highest level and is almost undroppable from the squad.
“I think Tariq is progressing very well and will certainly be with the Under-21s this time but Reece is playing at a very high level,” Southgate explained, as quoted by the Guardian.
“We wanted to keep him with us. He needs to learn from what happened at the end of that Denmark game which is not acceptable and has cost him the opportunity to play in some of the qualifiers for us.
“But we were very, very impressed with his club form and to be able to involve him in the game against Ireland is something we wanted to do,” he added.
The Chelse defender has only earned his debut as he has highly impressed in Chelsea under Frank Lampard this season and he is likely to cement his position in the national team after impressing Gareth Southgate.
