Chelsea’s young defender, Reece James uploaded a heartfelt message on his Instagram account after getting the opportunity to play for his national team, England for the first time on Thursday night.
The young fullback was handed his first senior England cap in a friendly match against Wales which saw his team securing a 3-0 victory at Wembley. James came from the bench as a substitute for the international friendly match with several important and first-team players missing from both the teams.
Everton striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is in tremendous goal scoring form in the Premier League opened the scoring from the header. Later Conor Coady and Danny Ings netted in the second half to secure an easy win.
On Instagram, the England international was seemed to get emotional after finally breaking into England’s senior team. His post received responses from his Chelsea buddies, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and also West Ham’s Declan Rice.
The 20-year-old has become an important first-team player at Stamford Bridge in the past year under Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and his rise has not gone unnoticed.
In the 58th minute of the match, James came off the bench to replace Atletico Madrid star Kieran Tripper. James has proved to be one of the talented right-backs available to England coach, Gareth Southgate.
He has earned the trust of Chelsea coach, Lampard after delivering back to back impressive performances for the Blues.
