Real Madrid are the latest club to join the race for Sevilla’s highly-rated defensive talent Jules Kounde who has been courted by Chelsea in this summer’s transfer window.
Reports from Spanish news outlet AS claim that Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid outfit have set their sights on making a move for Kounde after the sale of Raphael Varane to Manchester United.
Varane was the club’s mainstay at the back and his move to Old Trafford means that Ancelotti will have to dip into the transfer market for his replacement with Villarreal defender Pau Torres the other name on the manager’s shopping list.
Kounde has been made available by Sevilla this summer but for a fee north of €70 million which has caused some trouble for Chelsea who have recently wrapped up a mega-money move for long-term target Romelu Lukaku.
Chelsea’s previous attempts to land the 23-year-old Kounde have failed with a cash-plus-player offer running into a deadlock with Kurt Zouma asserting his desire to stay put in London rather than be sent in the opposite direction to Spain.
