Real Madrid have set their sights on a move for Chelsea star defender Reece James this summer with the wing-back at the top of the Spanish club’s transfer wishlist.
The 23-year-old James has seen the majority of his 2022-23 campaign riddled by injuries and his latest setback had him pulling out of the England squad last Sunday during the recent international break.
With Chelsea set to lock horns with the defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final clash in just over two weeks, there had been concern over James’ injury with the England international key to his side’s plans.
According to a report from AS, it is claimed that Real have identified James as their first choice target to replace Dani Carvajal with Carlo Ancelotti’s side aware of the task they face in attempting to lure James to the Bernabeu.
James put pen to paper on a new bumper six-year deal at the Bridge last September with the contract making him one of the highest earning players in the Blues shirt at par with summer arrival Raheem Sterling.
