Real Madrid are understood to be mulling over a swoop for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku as a Plan B option this coming summer transfer window.
The La Liga giants are keen on pursuing longstanding targets Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe but should attempt to sign either fail, Lukaku could emerge as a possible candidate on the shopping list for Real Madrid, according to a report from Fichajes.
It remains to be seen whether the Spanish outfit would be keen to amp up their interest in Lukaku’s signature by touching base with the Chelsea camp over a move for their striker in the forthcoming months.
Lukaku has proven to be a flop piece of transfer business for Chelsea since making his return to Stamford Bridge last summer from Inter Milan after excelling in Italy’s top flight with the San Siro giants.
The Belgian’s explosive interview to Sky Italia coupled with his patchy run of form in front of the goal has added to speculation that Chelsea could be convinced to cash in on their big-money signing come the end of the season.
