Real Madrid keen on Chelsea loan signing Joao Felix as their long-term option

European champions Real Madrid are keen on signing Chelsea loan signing Joao Felix as their long-term successor to talisman Karim Benzema.

Felix signed for the Blues in the January transfer window from Atletico Madrid on a short-term loan until the end of the season but there is no buy option for Chelsea in his contract.

The Portugal forward fell out of favor at Atletico with the manager Diego Simone and Felix’s displays at the end of last season sparked off speculation that Atletico could be looking to cash in on their record signing sooner rather than later.

Despite a topsy-turvy start to life at Stamford Bridge, Felix has impressed the Chelsea faithful with glimpses of excellence in front of the goal and in the process earned interest from Real Madrid, according to a report from the Spanish publication Fichajes.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have the 35-year-old Frenchman Karim Benzema as the main man up front but the ageing superstar could be replaced by Felix in the years to come with the latter feeling he has unfinished business in Spain.
