Real Madrid are rumoured to be eyeing up a January swoop for Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta who recently penned extended terms in west London.
The Spanish defender, who will be seen taking part in the World Cup later this month with his nation, had his Stamford Bridge future subject to much speculation last summer when Barcelona had been keen to move in for his signature.
Azpilicueta, however, ended up staying put with Chelsea as he put pen to paper on a two-year extension under the new ownership of Todd Boehly who had pushed hard for the Blues defensive mainstay to rebuff interest from elsewhere.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet SPORT, Azpilicueta is subject to interest from his homeland once again with the European champions Real Madrid looking to make a bid for the 33-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January.
It is understood that Real are keeping close tabs on the Chelsea captain and are willing to shell out a fee in the region of €10 million for convincing Chelsea to green light the transfer.
