The visitors to Austria could have opened the scoring inside the first minute through frontman Kai Havertz who was stopped in his tracks by the Salzburg defence.

Chelsea, however, did not have to wait for long to break the deadlock and make it 1-0 with Mateo Kovacic lashing a left-footed strike to find the back of the net.

Salzburg shot-stopper Kohn put out a brilliant save to deny Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who had flicked his header towards the goal in the hopes of doubling the lead.

Aubameyang had another golden opportunity to get on the scoresheet but Kohn proved to be more than a match for the former and denied him from close range.

Just four minutes into the restart after the interval, the home side leveled the affair Adamu beating Thiago Silva to the ball and slotting his effort past Kepa.

Around the hour mark, Kai Havertz came clutch for his side and produced a wonder of a strike to score and reclaim Chelsea’s lead which helped them get past the finish line as Kepa was kept busy in the final stages to ensure the three points.
