RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol is Chelsea’s new pursuit

Gvardiol is viewed as a good possibility to replace Rudiger as well as to play on the left side of a back four, according to Goal.

According to the report, the West Londoners have scouted the player on several occasions, though their admiration will not necessarily lead to a deal.

Rudiger and Christensen’s departure has forced Tuchel to dig deep into the transfer market and the Croatian has been highlighted by Chelsea’s scouts by the looks of it.

Gvardiol, who turned 20 in January, is less than a year into a five-year deal, putting Leipzig in a position to demand far more than the €16 million-plus add-ons they paid for the Dinamo Zagreb prodigy.

In his first season in Germany, the 6.2 Croatian has made an impression, appearing in almost all the German top-flight games for Leipzig, who are fighting for a top-four finish.

Despite the fact that Chelsea’s suspension remains in place, there have been discussions behind closed doors as the Blues prepare for their summer plans.

The 20-year-old has been bursting into the scenes for his side and was also being called up from the Croatian national squad after he made his first debut against Slovenia in March.

Though the prohibition has yet to be removed, the Blues are hoping that a new ownership structure will be in place before the end of the season, allowing them to add fresh talent to their roster.

Pau Torres and Jules Kounde have also been added to Chelsea’s shopping cart, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the French defender is the club’s top priority.
