RB Leipzig have reportedly opened talks with Chelsea striker Timo Werner to sign him on loan with Chelsea open to parting ways with the Germany international this summer.
Werner finds himself out of favour at Stamford Bridge and with Thomas Tuchel ready to sanction the forward’s transfer elsewhere, rumours are floating around over the 26-year-old’s next destination.
According to a report from 90min, Werner’s former club RB Leipzig are emerging as a strong contender to re-sign him this summer with the Bundesliga outfit holding talks with the German over a move back to the Red Bull Arena.
Werner was a star turn for Leipzig and his superb numbers of 28 goals in just 34 outings over his final season in 2019-20 were key to Chelsea forking out a big sum of money to land his signature two summers ago ahead of rivals Liverpool.
A move to Leipzig, however, is expected to sail through only if Werner agrees on a substantial pay cut which was the case for Romelu Lukaku as well when Inter Milan wanted to bring the Belgian striker back to San Siro.
