Raphinha would rather extend his stay with Leeds United than join Chelsea this summer in a big setback to Thomas Tuchel’s plans of signing the Brazilian attacker.
The winger had emerged as one of the top names on the wishlist for the Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel who was on the lookout for much-needed reinforcements to bolster his forward lineup in the summer window.
Barcelona’s entry into the mix, however, played spoilsport to Chelsea’s ambitions in the transfer market with the La Liga giants making an approach for Raphinha but Leeds United remain firm on their pricing demands.
According to a report from ESPN ( via The Daily Express), it is now claimed that Raphinha is only interested in signing for Barcelona and is willing to delay his move away from Elland Road rather than join his long-standing suitors in Chelsea.
Raphinha is hopeful that a move to Camp Nou could be finalised as early as the January transfer window next year and is open to staying put at Leeds for another six months should Barcelona’s financial issues subside by then.
