Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is a major doubt for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Manchester City on Saturday as he continues recovery from a hip injury.
Pulisic was forced to miss the international break with the USA, with coach Gregg Berhalter confirming his absence. He was released from the squad due to the fear of aggravating his injury,USA coped well with Pulisic’s absence as they won both their international fixtures against Canada and Cuba 4-1 and 4-0 respectively.
But despite Pulisic staying with Chelsea over the international break rather than going away with the USA squad, it seems that he has not been able to recover in time.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will be sweating over the American’s fitness after his form in the last three Premier League games for Chelsea.
The 21-year-old scored a ‘perfect hat-trick’ against Burnley and followed that up scoring what turned to be the winner against Watford. Pulisic was also on the scoresheet in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace before the international break which means he has 5 goals in the last three Premier League appearances
If ruled out Callum Hudson-Odoi is likely to start on the left wing with Willian almost a certainty to start on the right. Hudson-Odoi was criticized following his performance for England against Kosovo and will hope to make an impact against Manchester City.
Defender Antonio Rudiger is also set to miss out as he continues his recovery from an operation.
Ross Barkley will also face a late fitness test after he was forced to miss the international break with an ankle injury.
