Pulisic admits he is feeling the pressure at Chelsea

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has admitted that the pressure of being a top American player in Europe weighs heavy on him at times, with the USMNT star still searching for a spark at Chelsea.

Pulisic joined the Blues from Borussia Dortmund over the summer but despite signing for €60m has failed to usurp the likes of Mason Mount and experienced due Pedro and Willian in Frank Lampard’s starting XI.

But the America international has claimed that his initial struggles won’t stop him from making an impression at Stamford Bridge.

“If you can play, you can play and that’s why Dortmund was amazing for me, the coach always trusted me,” he told the Players Tribune.

“But you’ve got to prove yourself maybe that extra mile,” he said.

“I have to prove myself no matter what age I am. I don’t feel like I’m some wonder boy anymore, I’ve been around and I think I’ve earned that respect at least and I’m in a new chapter and I’m going to prove myself.”

Pulisic has taken in just seven appearances for Chelsea this season and is without a Premier League start since August 31.

Recent reports have said that Pulisic is considering leaving Chelsea on loan in January to get more first-team opportunities elsewhere.

With Callum Hudson-Odoi also returning from injury, competition for places has really hotted up at Chelsea.

Pulisic will be hoping to play some part for Chelsea on Saturday when they return to domestic action with a home date against Newcastle.
