French defender Presnel Kimpembe is reportedly set to rebuff the opportunity to sign for Chelsea this summer and stay put with Paris Saint-Germain.
According to a report from Standard Sport, Kimpempe is happy to extend his stay with the Parisians beyond the summer window despite Chelsea being credited with a strong interest in moving in for the 26-year-old.
The Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel, who has worked with the defender before their days at PSG, was keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge as Tuchel looks to reinforce his defensive roster before the new season kicks off.
Tuchel’s efforts to sign the likes of Jules Kounde, Wesley Fofana and more recently Kimpembe have all gone in vain with recent rumours suggesting that Leicester City are expected to demand an astronomical asking price for the 21-year-old Fofana.
Previously, drawn-out negotiations with Sevilla to land long-standing target Kounde hit a stumbling block with Catalan giants Barcelona joining the chase for the France international as they edge closer to completion of the deal.
