Premier League duo Aston Villa and Burnley join Chelsea in race for Wayne Hennessey

Chelsea could face some resistance in landing the signature of free agent Wayne Hennessey this summer with both Aston Villa and Burnley both interested in signing the Welsh shot-stopper.

Hennessey has emerged on Chelsea’s transfer radar ahead of the next season’s commencement with Thomas Tuchel on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to supplement their ranks following the departure of the third-choice option in Willy Cabellero.

Reports from The Daily Mail suggest that Burnley too are keen on making a move for Hennessey who last played for Crystal Palace in the Premier League before his contract at Selhurst Park ran down at the end of the 2020-21 season.

The Blues currently have the likes of Edouard Mendy and Kepa in the goalkeeping department and Tuchel would be keen on adding another face to his options in time for the commencement of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Chelsea, meannwhile, continue to be on the hunt for a new striker this summer with hopes of shoring up his attacking names as Erling Haaland remains Tuchel’s top most priority in the market.
