Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for the Southampton game despite Graham Potter insisting the player has a future at Stamford Bridge.
Aubameyang came close to leaving the Blues in the January transfer window to sign for MLS outfit Los Angeles FC but the former Arsenal talisman decided to rebuff a move to the Stateside and instead fight for his place in the Chelsea squad.
With Chelsea struggling to impress of late, with just two wins from their last 13 in all competitions and the front line coming under much criticism, there had been calls for the 33-year-old Aubameyang to be brought back in from the cold.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, however, the Gabon international has been told he will not be in the squad for Saturday’s home game against Southampton which is a must win outing for Graham Potter’s side.
The striker was omitted from Chelsea’s rejigged Champions League squad last month to make way for the club’s new signings but there had been expectations of Potter to include Aubameyang in his Premier League squad for the remainder of the season.
