Chelsea’s legendary goalkeeper, Petr Cech puts faith in the current Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. Cech firmly believes that Kepa can still succeed at Chelsea despite horrid performances in the 2019-20 season.
‘But nobody is giving up on Kepa and we all hope he has a great future.’
His shoddy displays between the sticks have resulted in speculations that Chelsea may sell the young Spanish keeper this summer.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was bought in the year 2018 at an enormous £71million fee which made him the most expensive goalkeeper in history. Since his move to Chelsea, the 25-year-old Spaniard has struggled enormously and hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations.
His poor form over his previous two seasons has concerned the Club as well as the supporters who have pleaded the club for a replacement.
“Kepa struggled last season, that is unquestionable,” said Cech who is currently a technical and performance advisor at Chelsea.
The Chelsea Boss has run out of patience which was well understood when the 38-year-old Willy Caballero started in his place for the FA Cup final.
But all these speculations have been played down by Cech who reveals that Kepa still remains as the No.1 goalkeeper of the Blues and is a part of Lampard’s future plans.
“The club has invested in him and gave him a long-term contract because they believe he has the qualities and attributes to be successful.”
“The issue of reinforcements is now very much alive.”
“Additions will be made to the squad, perhaps even in goal, and this is what is being discussed now.”
“The transfer window is until the end of October this year so there will be a lot of changes after the league begins,” the legendary Chelsea keeper added.
