Soon-to-be-former Chelsea FC attacker Pedro has undergone surgery after dislocating his shoulder in last week’s FA Cup final loss to Arsenal. The Spanish international had to be carried off the pitch in a stretcher in the final stages of the game.
A challenge by Arsenal center-back Sokratis on Pedro had caused the latter to fall down on the pitch with intense pain in his shoulder that had clashed against the surface. Following a lengthy examination of the 33-year old by the Chelsea FC medical staff, he was taken off the pitch.
And now the former FC Barcelona man has taken to Instagram to express his gratitude towards all those who wished for his speedy recovery. The Instagram post garnered comments of support from his former teammates such as Jordi Alba and Xavi, besides thousands of the Blues supporters expressing their love for the Spaniard.
Pedro had come on for Christian Pulisic in Saturday’s loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup final, with the latter too having sustained an injury. The game was to be the 33-year old Pedro’s final appearances as a Chelsea FC player following him agreeing to a two-year deal with Serie A giants AS Roma.
The attacker will leave for Italy after a five-year stint at Stamford Bridge. Pedro had signed for the Blues back in 2015 from FC Barcelona in a fee worth £19 million. He has gone on to make more than 200 competitive appearances in the Chelsea FC shirt, scoring 43 goals in the process.
