According to Owen Hargreaves, Chelsea are the leading contender to secure the services of Brighton’s in-form 18-year-old striker, Evan Ferguson.
Ferguson recently netted his first Premier League hat-trick in Brighton’s victory over Newcastle before the international break, and as expected, his impressive performances have generated interest from other clubs.
Brighton’s chief executive, Paul Barber, has stated that the club has no intention of selling Ferguson for “at least five years.” However, there are reports suggesting that Manchester City are preparing an offer for the young striker.
Manchester United and Liverpool are also mentioned as possible destinations for Ferguson, who is under contract with Brighton until 2028.

Hargreaves praised the Irish striker’s performance against Newcastle and implied that when Brighton eventually decides to sell Ferguson, they might end up negotiating with more well-known clubs or familiar entities in the football world.
As quoted by Football London, he said:
“That was against the best defence in the Premier League last season – Dan Burn looked very worried about Ferguson. like the fact that all three goals were different.”
“The first one was an easy one, he was in the right spot. The second was a great goal. He’s a bit of an old-school centre-forward, he’s got that physical profile. Probably Chelsea [when asked about which club will buy the striker] because they buy all of Brighton’s players.”
Ferguson’s future is uncertain at the moment, but there is a strong belief that he is destined for the top tier of football. Clubs like Man City and Real Madrid are considered to be in the best position to secure his transfer in the future.
If Chelsea’s manager Mauricio Pochettino manages to secure Ferguson’s signature, it could greatly benefit the young player’s career.

Glenn Murray, a former star for Brighton and Crystal Palace, has previously praised the youngster’s potential, likening him to the level of Harry Kane.
While Chelsea already has a plethora of attacking options, Pochettino might consider strengthening his forward line, especially given Nicolas Jackson’s mixed start at the club.
The 22-year-old striker signed from Villarreal in the summer, has shown promise but has also faced criticism for a missed opportunity against Nottingham Forest.
