Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud has claimed that he has an interesting choice after finishing his stint with the Blues as he could make the move to the MLS in the United States to continue his football.
Giroud only recently signed a contract extension with Chelsea which will keep him at Stamford Bridge for another season but the Frenchman has explained that he is open to an exit next summer once his contract expires in June.
Upon entering the twilight years of his career, the 32-year-old World Cup winner is already pondering on his future choices stating that he follows European players that move to the Far West to finish off their careers in the United States but also explained that he could be tempted by other offers as well.
The former Arsenal striker said, “MLS, for my family, my children who speak English, it is interesting. In a year? Two years? I don’t know when. But of course, I will be opened to a new challenge. It is not only MLS which could interest me.
However, despite thinking of the future, Giroud has admitted that he is currently enjoying his football at Chelsea as the West London outfit decided to extend his contract by one season, “There have been no discussions because the club had an option for an extra year and they took it because they were happy with my contribution to the club. It is even more than that. There is real trust. It was not really my desire to leave anyway so I never asked myself about a possible departure.”
Giroud scored in the UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool but has started only one Premier League game for the Blues and came off the bench on two occasions.
