Chelsea backup striker Olivier Giroud has shown no signs of leaving intentionally. He in fact did nothing but talk about his own ambition for the club he is in right now i.e. Chelsea. He talked about fighting for his place in the club, which is why the story of his contract agreement and potential transfer to Juventus was so surprising.
“I didn’t have the great end of the season that I did to leave like this, and not believe in my chances. I will fight for my place.”“I was surprised when I received messages from friends talking about the Juventus rumour,” Giroud told Telefoot, as reported by Football Italia.
“It is a long way off the truth. I am a Chelsea player and I feel good here. I didn’t have a great end to last season just to leave again without showing a bit of faith.”
The transfer rumors around Olivier Giroud fit the kind of profile that Juventus is going after when it comes to bringing in a new No. 9. Giroud is an ideal replacement this summer leaving aside the possibilities of Mose Kean and potentially Alvaro Morata.
These are the short-term stopgap that will hopefully bridge the gap between these tough economic times. It will also boost the influx of cash the club will get when fans will be able to fill the stadiums again.
“[Lampard] can evolve, [he] is not stuck in one tactical system. Werner brings us another string to our bow. He has different qualities to mine, so that makes me think that’s not such a bad thing. We could complement each other.”
“I hope that I can continue the momentum I have had. I have high hopes for the future.”
Giroud on Telefoot: "I was surprised to receive messages from friends this morning telling me about this rumour. That's far from the case; I am a #CFC player.
He adds:"It's always good to get the attention of these kinds of clubs, it's flattering. But I remain focused on Chelsea" https://t.co/FWDHOeBgZ6

“Italians, they get carried away quickly [but] it’s always good to get the attention of these kinds of clubs, it’s flattering.
“But I remain focused on Chelsea. We will see what will happen in the coming weeks. But there is nothing signed or done. I prefer to deny it.”
Giroud may be the third-choice center forward for the Blues coach, Lampard right now, but he proved last season. He himself has acknowledged multiple times this summer that he’s a different style of player than either Tammy Abraham or Timo Werner. He believes that— both literally and figuratively, he can still play a vital role in Chelsea’s goals this season.
