Nicolas Jackson clinched Chelsea’s Goal of the Month award by scoring the winning goal as they defeated Brighton and Hove Albion to progress to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The £32 million summer signing netted his second goal of the season, following his debut goal against Luton a month earlier, securing a 1-0 victory for Chelsea over the Seagulls.
In addition to breaking the club’s winless streak since August, Jackson also resolved the issue of who would receive the September Goal of the Month award by scoring the senior team’s first goal of the month.
The goal will give huge relief to the African player who has been heavily criticised in recent weeks for missing several clear scoring opportunities.
The West Londoners have been poor in attack with only five goals scored in six Premier League games.

Jackson have been the main centre of attraction as he has been placed with the burden of leading the line for the Blues.
The fans will hope that his goal against Brighton will give him some confidence and help him improve his numbers this season.
The Blues have already surpassed their performance in last season’s competition, where they were eliminated by Manchester City in the third round.
In the upcoming round, they will take on Championship club Blackburn at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, they will face another challenging task against Premier League foes Fulham at the Craven Cottage on Tuesday.
