Chelsea are sweating over the fitness of midfield regular N’Golo Kante as the Frenchman picked up a knock during the Les Bleus’ 1-1 stalemate against Ukraine and is set to be sidelined for the next two World Cup qualifier fixtures.
According to reports, the France international would return to Stamford Bridge following his knock and undergo treatment as per the supervision of the Chelsea medical staff.
The official statement from the France Football Federation confirmed that the Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps had approved Kante’s return to west London for medical treatment and the World Cup-winning star would not be in contention for the upcoming fixtures to be played by Deschamps’s side.
“N’Golo Kante will not take part in the next two matches of the French team on Sunday in Kazakhstan and three days later in Bosnia-Herzegovina.”
“The Chelsea midfielder felt a pain in the hamstrings of the left thigh at the very end of the match against Ukraine on Wednesday at the Stade de France. He had clinical and radiological examinations on Thursday, which revealed a small lesion.
“N’Golo Kante will not be replaced. It is therefore a group of twenty-five players who will fly to Kazakhstan tomorrow morning.”
The Blues manager Thomas Tuchel would most likely pay close attention to the injury extent of his key midfield player as Chelsea brace themselves for an all-important fixture list post the ongoing international break.
Tuchel’s men are right in the mix to secure a top-four finish this season besides being in major contention for silverware across the domestic and continental front, in the latter of which they face FC Porto.
