N’Golo Kante feels frustrated as Wolves defeated Chelsea with an injury time goal

Chelsea’s star midfielder, N’Golo Kante thinks that the urge to have two more points when they were on a 1-1 scoreline cost them the match and the Wolves went on to win 2-1 courtesy to Neto’s injury-time goal. Wolves’ defeat at Molineux on Tuesday evening meant Chelsea had two successive defeats in consecutive games this season.

Chelsea took the commanding position with a 1-0 lead as soon as the second half started with their veteran striker, Olivier Giroud’s excellent volley from the cross of Ben Chilwell from the left-hand side. But since that goal, the Wolves completely got hold of the match and struck an equalizer some minutes later.

Wolverhampton’s Daniel Podence fired a curling shot that deflected past Edouard Mendy. Chelsea wanted to win the game to go high up the table, leaving their defense exposed. Their continuing urge didn’t saw the Everton attack coming and conceded in the dying minutes of the game when Pedro Neto took all the three points from them with a goal.

Kante shared the frustrating atmosphere of the dressing room and expressed their huge disappointment of losing despite leading the game.

‘We’re all disappointed, especially to lose two games in a row,’ said the midfielder as per the Official Chelsea website.

‘After the last game at Everton we all wanted to react well and have a good game but the first half was not so good.

‘We managed to score the first goal so to finish the game by losing hurts us and it’s a big disappointment.’

The French midfielder claimed that the game management of their team should have been way better when going all for the one extra goal to win.

‘Even if we were not playing great, we were one goal ahead so we could have managed the game and kept the difference,’ he continued.

‘In the first half, they had five at the back and were defending very well so we weren’t able to have many chances. We were happy to score with our first shot on target but we didn’t manage the result well.

‘When they scored, we tried to come back but by trying to win the game we conceded many counter-attacks and they scored a late goal,’he added.

Indeed this week has been a huge blow for Frank Lampard’s team after what they achieved in the last two months. Neither did their winning streak came to end but also they suffered two successive defeats in the important phase of the League.
