Blues midfielder N’golo Kante has admitted that the fatigue and workload is one of the main reasons why Chelsea was unable to get all three points against Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Frank Lampard is still looking for his first win as Chelsea boss as the 41-year-old has already played three games across all competitions. The West Londoners were hammered 4-0 by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United on the opening day of the Premier League season and then lost the UEFA Super Cup to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Leicester City was the first team to arrive at Stamford Bridge this term and Chelsea got off to a great start as young forward Mason Mount put the hosts ahead early in the first half but spirited Foxes’ outfit came back to draw level and threatened to snatch a late winner as well.
However, one player who had another great game in the center of the park was French midfielder N’golo Kante. The 28-year-old former Leicester City star put in another shift despite not being at the peak of his fitness and assessed the way things went for Chelsea.
In a post-match interview, the World Cup-winning midfielder analyzed the game on his own and spoke to Chelsea’s official website assessing the way things panned out. Kante claimed that he was unhappy with the dropped points but a draw wasn’t the worst result in the world either, “It’s true we used a lot of energy this week. We had the match against Man U and then traveled to Turkey for the match against Liverpool when we played very well. We were a bit tired against a good Leicester team. We had a good first 20 minutes. After Leicester was very good in the match and in the end a draw is not a bad result.”
