Newcastle United have zeroed in on Chelsea’s shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga for the summer shopping list at St. James’ Park, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
Kepa has played second fiddle to the Senegal international Edouard Mendy over the course of the season and speculation is rife over the former’s long term future in the English capital with Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
The Magpies also have Manchester United first team outcast Dean Henderson in mind with the boss Eddie Howe looking to dip into the market to bring in competition for current No.1 Martin Dubravka.
Serie A outfit Lazio, now under the charge of ex-Blues manager Maurizio Sarri, have long been linked with a move for Kepa but Chelsea’s concerns on the pricing front for their record £71.6 million signing have put off the Italians for any potential deal.
Newcastle, meanwhile, could be interested in making a loan approach for the Chelsea goalkeeper who is contracted at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2025 as his club remains keen on pocketing a sizable asking price from his sale.
