Chelsea first-team outcast Ross Barkley continues to attract attention from Steve Bruce and Newcastle United in this summer’s transfer window, according to reports from Chronicle Live.
Barkley is speculated to be on the fringes of Thomas Tuchel’s camp heading into the start of the new campaign which gets underway in less than a week from now and talk of the former Everton man heading out the exit door has gained ground in recent weeks.
The midfielder was shipped off to Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal last summer and despite a promising start to life in the Midlands, Barkley struggled with form and injuries over the course of the campaign.
Newcastle United have been tipped to be the frontrunners to sign Barkley with Steve Bruce keeping close tabs on the England international to shore up his options in the centre of the park for which the Magpies boss has also courted Arsenal starlet Joe Willock.
With Newcastle yet to table an offer for the Arsenal talent, Barkley’s availability this summer could make the Chelsea man a viable alternative for Bruce with Thomas Tuchel open to letting the player leave Stamford Bridge.
