Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri who has just taken the job at Serie A outfit Lazio is keen on signing his old player Kepa Arrizabalaga who is now a marginalised figure in the Stamford Bridge camp.
Edouard Mendy’s arrival in west London last summer meant that the Chelsea new boy became the first-choice option manning the sticks and after a tremendous debut campaign he looks set to emulate his recent success in the upcoming season as well.
This could pave the way for Chelsea to offload Kepa, who had been purchased by the Blues in the summer of 2018 for a world-record fee paid for a goalkeeper, with the Spain international not being seen as a major part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans going forward.
Reports from the Daily Star suggest that Sarri is keeping tabs on Kepa with whom he had an infamous falling out during the 2019 Carabao Cup final when the shot-stopper had refused to come off the pitch, much to Sarri’s frustration on the sidelines.
However, Kepa was brought to the Bridge by Sarri three summers ago and the Italian coach could be well reunited with the Spaniard should Lazio approach Chelsea with a concrete offer.
