New Chelsea boss Graham Potter is said to be eyeing up a move for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella to add to his engine room options.
Potter’s appointment to the top job at Stamford Bridge earlier this month has come amid talk that the 47-year-old will be backed by the Chelsea owners on the transfer front.
According to a report from the Italian news outlet Calciomercatoweb ( via 90min), it is claimed that the highly-rated Barella is the new name on Chelsea’s radar with the Blues keen on moving in for the midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.
It is understood that Potter has asked the Chelsea board to get the negotiations underway with the Inter camp as the former Brighton head coach looks to bolster his roster with the midfield department of much importance.
The uncertainty looming over the futures of two key Chelsea first-teamers in the shape of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante has sparked off speculation that the west Londoners will be required to bring in reinforcements sooner rather than later.
