The newly appointed Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel wants to sign his former Chelsea players Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy this summer.
Bayern axed their under-fire manager Julian Nagelsmann and appointed Tuchel as his replacement last week and the latter is said to be keen to bolster the squad when the transfer window reopens for business later this year.
The job at the Allianz Arena is Tuchel’s first since he was handed the sack by Chelsea last September and the new coach of the Bavarian giants is considering making offers for two of his former Blues – Kovacic and Mendy.
According to a report from the Italian news outlet Calciomercato, it is claimed that Bayern could move in for the Chelsea first-team duo who have been tipped to leave west London very soon.
Both have struggled to earn regular game time under the new Chelsea manager Graham Potter and recent reports have suggested that the highly rated midfielder Kovacic remains a name on the shopping list for Manchester United and Liverpool.
