Napoli are planning to table a bumper pay rise for Chelsea summer target Kalidou Koulibaly and convince him to extend his stay at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Koulibaly had emerged on the transfer radar of the Blues in recent weeks with speculation doing the rounds that the 30-year-old Senegalese was eyeing a move away from Italy before the summer window came to a close.
With Chelsea on the hunt for much-needed defensive reinforcements after the exits of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Tuchel’s side had been credited with a strong interest in moving in for the Serie A star Koulibaly.
According to a report from the Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Napoli are in line to offer their contract rebel an improved offer with €3.5 million in annual salary plus bonuses to renew his terms.
Koulibaly has enjoyed an incredible eight years in Naples since joining the Serie A giants from KRC Genk in 2014 with the central defender establishing his credentials as one of the top players in his role across Europe.
