Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti, recently appointed to the job at the Serie A giants, has remained coy over his speculated interest in signing Chelsea’s forgotten full-back Emerson Palmieri, state reports from the Daily Mail.
The Italian left-back has been tipped to head out the exit door at Stamford Bridge in wake of his limited first-team involvement at the club over the past couple of seasons.
With the Blues making Ben Chilwell their big-money capture last summer from Leicester City, the England international along with Marcos Alonso competed for the wing-back role on the left side of the pitch, leaving Emerson on the fringes of the Chelsea camp.
Interest from clubs in his homeland, particularly Napoli and AS Roma, has been rampant in the 26-year-old Emerson who has been a consistent performer for Italy at the UEFA European Championships where Roberto Mancini’s men have booked the final date with England this coming weekend.

In his first press conference as the Napoli boss, Spalletti was quizzed by the reporters over potential interest in signing Emerson from Chelsea but the coach chose to give an uncertain answer, saying that he might have spoken to the player whom he previously managed at AS Roma.
‘That is a question I cannot answer, but it’s possible that might’ve happened.’
