Tiemoue Bakayoko’s much-anticipated move away from Stamford Bridge could happen in the dying stages of this summer’s transfer window, according to reports from Football Italia.
Serie A giants Napoli who have been keeping close tabs on the French midfield man since the onset of the summer window are understood to be willing to wait on their pursuit of the Chelsea first-team outcast.
Bakayoko has been heavily backed to call it quits at the Blues this summer and Napoli believe that extending their wait for signing the player could help them land him in a cut-price deal from Thomas Tuchel’s camp who will be looking to cut their losses on the player.
With Chelsea themselves looking to bolster their midfield options before the transfer window slams shut by bringing in long-term target Declan Rice, Tuchel could be forced to ship out Bakayoko on the cheap to make room for Rice in his first-team ranks.
Chelsea’s demands of a €20 million fee for Bakayoko’s sale is bound to trouble Napoli with just a year remaining on the former Monaco man’s deal at Stamford Bridge.
