AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has made it clear that the Serie A giants are very keen on extending Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori’s stay in Italy a permanent one with Piolo targeting a summer move for the centre-back.
The Milan boss in his post-match press conference following his side’s win over arch-rivals Juventus admitted that Tomori was a priority target heading into this summer’s transfer window.
Tomori’s great run of form has convinced Milan to trigger his buy-out clause
The young England international has a €28m option to buy clause inserted in his loan agreement when he arrived at the Italian outfit in the January window after failing to get regular involvement at Chelsea.
With Tomori impressing ever since his move AC Milan have made it clear that they want to sign the promising defender in a permanent deal and such sentiments were echoed by Piolo in his press conference.
“Our intention with Tomori is clear and his intentions are clear too, but that’s for the end of the season and not now.”
Chelsea too remain on the hunt for defensive reinforcements
The new Blues gaffer Thomas Tuchel is likewise on the lookout for options in the transfer market to fortify his defence which could lose Thiago Silva in the summer as his one-year-long deal runs out.
Tuchel recently was handed a major blow in his attempts to bring in Juventus man Mattijs de Ligt with the Serie A side swiftly turning down any potential talks for the Holland international.
