Chelsea FC outcast Michy Batshuayi has reportedly decided to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent transfer this summer. The Belgian international has been on the fringes of Frank Lampard’s first-team squad of late. Moreover, the Blues manager does not feel that the 26-year old striker has a future any longer at the club.
The Belgian has served a considerable time away from Chelsea FC on different loan spells across Europe. Batshuayi has been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, and Crystal Palace, impressing at all three sides with his goalscoring prowess. However, his performances away from Stamford Bridge have not helped him break into the Blues’ first-team squad.
And now the 26-year old has made the decision regarding his future, as confirmed by recent reports. The Belgian international wants to seek a permanent move elsewhere this summer ahead of next year’s UEFA Euros. Batshuayi feels that another season being spent on the sidelines at Chelsea FC will hinder his chances of making Belgium’s squad for the prestigious European competition now scheduled for 2021.
The striker was already behind Oliver Giroud and Tammy Abraham in the pecking order at Chelsea FC. Moreover, with the recent arrival of new signing Timo Werner, Batshuayi is certain to get very few opportunities on the pitch come next season. Such a scenario does not bode well with the former Marseille star striker.
According to reports, the 26-year old had refused a move back to his homeland to play for Club Brugge. Moreover, Batshuayi is even adamant on snubbing interest from Premier League side West Ham United. Crystal Palace are one more side in England willing to pursue the Chelsea FC striker this summer.
However, the Blues’ price-tag for Batshuayi is rumoured to be around €40 million. Such a fee is being considered rather unnecessary by other sides for signing the 26-year old Belgian international. Moreover, the player’s wage demands too are thought to be hefty by Crystal Palace who have registered interest in securing the striker’s services ahead of next season.
