Matt Miazga signs for La Liga side Alaves in a loan deal with option to buy

Chelsea’s American international central defender Matt Miazga has made the move to La Liga outfit Alaves in a loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

The 26-year-old Miazga has been a regular loanee for the Blues over the last five seasons and his move to Spain this time around could well draw the curtains down on his Stamford Bridge career with Alaves backed to exercise their option to buy clause should the player perform well.

Miazga’s current deal with the Blues is set to be extended further prior to his departure, according to reports from the club’s official website, as the player faces a rather uncertain future with Thomas Tuchel looking for a fresh face to bolster his defensive options before deadline day.

Sevilla’s Jules Kounde has been identified by the Chelsea boss as his priority target in what remains of this summer’s transfer window despite a recent stall in talks between the two clubs over pricing concerns for Kounde’s potential arrival at the Bridge.

The high-flying Trevor Chalobah who was drafted in the centre-back role for the opening day win against Crystal Palace is also in line to be handed a new improved deal by Tuchel after the player’s rich vein of recent form.
