According to the latest reports, Mateo Kovacic has been given the green light to remain at Chelsea and the Croatian wants to remain at Stamford Bridge instead of returning to Real Madrid.
Chelsea is in a bit of a pickle at the moment as they have lost two key members out of the clubs door over the past few weeks. 60-year-old Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea as the head coach to take charge of Serie A club Juventus and Belgian talisman Eden Hazard signed for his dream club Real Madrid from Chelsea in a €135 million deal.
The West London club has also been hit with a transfer ban which means that Chelsea will not be able to sign any player for a whole year and the next two transfer windows. Chelsea will now have to look into their players that are on loan and pick whoever they want to bring back to the club if they require doing so.
Despite the departure of Maurizio Sarri from Chelsea, Mateo Kovacic has informed his teammates that he would prefer to remain at Chelsea following the end of his loan spell of one season. Kovacic was a regular under former Chelsea manager Sarri and made 51 appearances for the Blues last term across all competitions. La Liga giants Real Madrid have suffered a torturous season last term and the Los Blancos would want around £45 million for the sale of Kovacic and are willing to part ways with the midfielder.
The 25-year-old Croatian has also asked his representatives to go forward with talks and speak to Chelsea to confirm a transfer on a permanent basis. Kovacic was already registered as a Chelsea player before the club was hit with the transfer ban, therefore, he has the opportunity of remaining at the club if the Blues are keen on keeping him.
