Mason Mount has reportedly turned down a £200,000 a week contract offer from Chelsea which adds to the uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.
The England international is yet to renew his terms in the English capital and has just 18 months left on his current deal with Chelsea pushing for the playmaker to agree upon a new long-term contract.
According to a report from The Sun, however, it is claimed that Chelsea have been handed a fresh setback in their talks with Mount with the 23-year-old rebuffing the latest offer which was in the region of £200,000-a-week.
It is understood that Mount is seeking parity with his Three Lions team-mate Raheem Sterling who made the move the Bridge in the summer from Manchester City and pockets a £300,000-a-week wage.
A successful campaign for England at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar could help Mount’s case to demand a sizable pay hike as the new Blues boss Graham Potter looks to retain one his key first-team regulars.
