Chelsea’s Mason Mount has admitted to being keen on clinching his first silverware for the Blues heading into the weekend showdown at Wembley where Thomas Tuchel’s side take on Leicester City for the FA Cup trophy.
Having made his name as a hugely influential presence on the pitch for the west London giants, Mount is yet to win his first trophy in the Chelsea colours and the 22-year-old says he wants to follow in the footsteps of clubs legends like Droga and Lampard by winning major trophies.
“I want to fulfil my dreams and the dreams of the others players coming through with me,” said Mount as reported by the BBC.
“We want to win trophies. I looked at a lot of players – the legends from Chelsea – when I was at the academy and witnessed the first team winning trophies and major trophies.
“I wanted to take things from every part of their game. I wanted to follow in their footsteps. Players like Lampard, John Terry, Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech… All of them really.
“They have won major trophies and played so many times for the club.”
The England international will be expected to play a major role for the Blues in their upcoming matchup against the Foxes and on the back of the recent defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League, Chelsea are backed to emerge stronger to get their hands on the FA Cup.
Mount has registered six goals and five assists to his name this season in top-flight action and will be at the forefront should Chelsea harbour hopes of clinching the prize come Saturday in the capital city.
