Mason Mount likely to miss Malmo clash after absence from team training

Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount is in line to miss the forthcoming Champions League group stage outing against Malmo after his absence was noted in team training on Monday.

The England international was sidelined at the last minute for Saturday’s win over Newcastle United with Thomas Tuchel confirming later that Mount had suffered an illness in the build-up to the St. James’ Park showdown.

Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella has now claimed that Mount did not take part in the open training session for Chelsea ahead of the Champions League game against Malmo which adds to speculation that the player will not be in the fray for selection.

Mount’s extended absence in the Chelsea fold adds to Thomas Tuchel’s worries with the Chelsea manager already without the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner for the forthcoming fixture list with the duo on the recovery table.

Tuchel will hope to have his long-term injury absentee Christian Pulisic returning to the team sheet sooner rather than later as the American international wide player works his way to full fitness levels.
