Mason Mount has been holding out for a new Chelsea deal “for months” with some of the biggest Premier League sides keen on his signature.
According to a report from The Sun, it is claimed that as the Blues worked through the process of replacing the embattled Roman Abramovich as the owner, Mount’s extension talks hit a roadblock much to the player’s disappointment.
Chelsea, however, remain keen on offering the England international playmaker fresh terms to ward off the increasing interest from elsewhere in Mount’s services and tie him down to a new long-term extension beyond his current deal which still has two more years to run.
The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have shown interest in the Chelsea attacker with the clubs in the market for a big-name signing amidst speculation that Mount could be convinced in calling it quits at Stamford Bridge.
He was one of the most important performers out there on the pitch this season for Thomas Tuchel’s side with his impressive tally of 11 goals and 10 assists 32 top flight outings.
