Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell come under Roy Keane’s scanner following England’s draw against Scotland

Manchester United icon Roy Keane has blasted Chelsea duo Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount for huddling together with their Chelsea teammate Billy Gilmour for a long chat after England’s goalless stalemate against Scotland at the Euros.

Gareth Southgate’s side were held to a nil-nil affair by Scotland in the group stage fixture in a game where the young Gilmour took home the man of the match accolade for his tremendous shift in the centre of the park for Steve Clarke’s men.

Following the final whistle, Chilwell and Mount were seen engaged in an extended talk with their fellow Blues first-team member Gilmour who tested positive for COVID-19 which in turn has forced the former duo to be put in self-isolation.

Chelsea’s England pairing were absent for their side’s 1-0 win over the Czech Republic on Tuesday which confirmed their progress into the Last-16 of the European Championships.

Chilwell and Mount have come under the scanner of Roy Keane who has lambasted the two players when quizzed upon the incident on ITV for indulging in a prolonged chat with an opposition player.

“I think the only thing I’d be critical of is why would you want to speak to an opposition player – I don’t care if he’s your team-mate or not – for over 20 minutes?

“I very rarely speak to anybody for over five minutes… after a game where you’ve just been to war against somebody, why you’d want to chat to somebody for that long.

“They could have used a bit more common sense.”
