Manchester United are said to be willing to meet Chelsea’s asking price of £30 million for Mateo Kovacic who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Kovacic is out of contract with Chelsea at the end of the season and the Blues, who are looking to raise funds this summer after their spending spree, could be forced to cash in on the former Real Madrid maestro.
According to a report from Football Insider, it is claimed that Manchester United have a strong interest in bringing Kovacic to Old Trafford and could part with £30 million to secure the deal for the Croatian international’s signature.
The Red Devils will be wary of the interest shown in the Chelsea first-teamer by city rivals Manchester City who are also keeping a close watch on the developments at the Bridge where Kovacic’s future hangs in the balance.
There has been no hint of talks over a contract extension for the midfielder who is expected to be one of the several big names leaving the Bridge in the summer as Chelsea look to trim down their squad size.
